Stepping the Mast
The restoration of a classic sailing yachtPeter, Andy and Tom took charge of stepping Maybird’s two masts. Under her main mast is a George III silver dollar retrieved from an East Indiaman – the Vansittart which sank off Java in 1783. Given the time she spent in New Zealand we placed some Kiwi coins under the mizzen mast. As one can see from the pictures, it was a tad inclement for mast stepping.
